Personally, I’ve set up the Blob Opera to perform in a separate window and have been switching between the different songs to help get me in the Christmas spirit before I go and start wrapping presents that should have already been done. It may not be much, but it’s definitely an awesome way to have a little bit of fun to celebrate the holiday season. Or, you can switch to a different song by clicking the playlist button and selecting something different. However, there’s a Play / Stop button in the bottom left corner if you want to pause. If you do nothing, the Blob Opera will continue to perform the same song over and over again. Then, you can click the playlist button next to the Christmas tree toggle and select from one of the following songs: ![]() Santa hats will fall from the sky, landing on each of the blobs, and snow will begin to fall on your screen. All you need to do is head over to the website and then click the Christmas Tree icon in the bottom right corner. The resulting experiment allows you to play Blob Opera, altering pitch & vowel sounds to create your own composition. Just in time for Christmas, Google has announced the return of the Blob Opera, as they can now perform a handful of Christmas songs. In the experiment you don’t hear their voices, but rather the machine learning model’s understanding of what opera singing sounds like, based on what it learned from the opera singers. All the blobs can be dragged up and down and forward and back to change the vowel sounds and pitch, and theres even a record button for when users want to create an opera-inspired song. ![]() For the unaware, the Blob Opera is a set of four blobs that make use of machine learning to “sing” a variety of different songs.
